Wildfyre RGS (“Wylder”)

The third (and final) addition to the Red Gate lineup for 2025 was a tall, leggy Hanoverian colt by Wynton out of Boheme (Bugatti Hilltop/Feiner Stern) born at 9:30 pm on May 28th. Our mares have been very considerate with their delivery times this year!

Wildfyre RGS, aka “Wylder”, is the third full sibling we have had from this Wynton/Boheme (aka “Bijou”) cross (in addition to Whrapsody RGS aka “Tosca” in 2020, and Wordsmyth RGS aka “Webster” in 2023). We were hoping for a keeper filly, but this little guy is pretty nice even if he does have the wrong plumbing!

Jamaican Blue RGS (“Java”)

Our second foal of the year arrived at 6:00 pm on May 20th.

Meet Jamaican Blue, aka “Java”, named for one of our favourite premium coffees! She is by the young jumping stallion, Copernicus WF (Clinton I/Federalist), and is out of our first homebred, Vanity Fair (aka “Havana”), making Java a second generation homebred for us. She will be registered Canadian Warmblood.

Java is tall and has very long legs – her long legs and compact little body made it a struggle for her to get up easily for the first 24 hours, but she was quickly romping around and demonstrating her sire’s fabulous canter. Java is one of the most sweet, personable foals we have had, who nickers to you when you go out to her in the paddock. We are very pleased Havana gave us a filly (in addition to her 2023 filly, Capablanca RGS, owned by Havana’s owner, Avery Brennan) so that we can retain her for the future of our breeding program!

Damask Rose RGS (“Jasmine”)

Baby Jasmine was born on May 8, 2025 – the first of three expected foals this year. Jasmine is by Dubarry (Don Frederico/Rubinstein), out of Shephora (aka “Flora” – Shakespeare RSF/Gold Luck/Donnerhall).

She is an elegant, feminine filly with very long legs. She is quite a friendly character and has an energetic, curious personality already at only a few days old.

She will likely be registered Hanoverian

Rubicon RGS (“Roman”)

Roman was a stunning colt with a great presence, bred to be a versatile prospect: by Rubinio (Rubin Royal/Florestan) and the first foal of our Holsteiner mare, Lexicon HPF (Conway II/Indoctro). Unfortunately, Roman succumbed to a septic joint and despite attempts to save him was euthanized at 6 weeks old. He had a bright future, and this was one of the heartbreaking losses that can make breeding so difficult.

Fibonacci RGS (“Newton”)

We welcomed our only foal for 2024 on May 7th at 11:30 pm. “Newton” is a very tall colt by Ferdeaux (Bordeaux/Ferro) and out of our lovely GOV mare, Shephora (Shakespeare RSF/Gold Luck). He has already shown himself to be cheeky and confident, and we hope he will be an impressive dressage prospect! He will be registered German Oldenburg and will attend the GOV inspection later this year.

We are disappointed to learn that Bijou (“Boheme”, Bugatti/Feiner Stern) lost her Wynton pregnancy some time during the winter, but this little guy makes up for being an only child with his big personality.

Capablanca RGS (“Bianca”)

Bianca is a 2023 filly born at Red Gate, by Checkmate (Checkmate/Rio Zeus), but was bred and is owned by the Brennan family who purchased Bianca’s dam, Vanity Fair (“Havana” – Geronimo/Double Sonic xx), in 2017. Havana was our first homebred, and thus Bianca is a second generation to be born on the farm.

Bianca was bred to be a future event prospect for Avery Brennan, although she has already demonstrated moves worthy of the dressage ring. Bianca is extremely bold with a big personality.

Divine Comedy RGS (“Dante”)

2023 German Oldenburg colt by Diesel CF out of Shephora (Shakespeare RSF/Gold Luck). “Dante” was named a Premium foal at his GOV inspection.

Dante is a tall, substantial colt with a quiet but very sweet and willing temperament. He will hopefully demonstrate great aptitude for dressage like his sire, while also proving to be a versatile mount for the ambitious amateur rider.

Interstellar RGS (“Stella”)

New arrival at Red Gate early on May 27 right around her due date: the chestnut filly “Interstellar RGS” (“Stella”) by the GOV stallion Lestat out of the CSH mare Urika by Indoctro. She was cheeky and precocious right from the start, standing and nursing right away, and wheeling around on those long legs. 😊 She has proven to have a balanced, uphill canter and has started showing off a lovely trot. And look at her chrome!

Stella was sold as a weanling to Kelsy S. of Washington State as a future eventing prospect.
